# Email Client Settings

Use the following settings to configure any desktop or mobile email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, iOS Mail, Gmail app, etc.) with your Open-Xchange mailbox.

These settings are also available in the customer portal under **Manage Email Accounts → Email Client Settings**.

## Server Settings

| Setting | Value |
| - | - |
| **Incoming Server (IMAP)** | `imap.us.appsuite.cloud` |
| **IMAP Port** | `993` (SSL/TLS) |
| **Incoming Server (POP3)** | `pop.us.appsuite.cloud` |
| **POP3 Port** | `995` (SSL/TLS) |
| **Outgoing Server (SMTP)** | `smtp.us.appsuite.cloud` |
| **SMTP Port** | `465` (SSL/TLS) |
| **Username** | Your full email address (e.g., `user@example.com`) |
| **Password** | Your email account password |
| **Authentication** | Required for IMAP, POP3, and SMTP |

## IMAP vs. POP3

| | IMAP | POP3 |
| - | - | - |
| **Sync across devices** | Yes — read, deleted, and moved messages sync everywhere | No — changes on one device do not reflect on others |
| **Email stays on server** | Yes | No — email is downloaded and removed from the server |
| **Recommended** | Yes, for most users | Only if you need offline-only access on a single device |

## Encryption

Always use **SSL/TLS** encryption. The server settings above all use encrypted connections by default. Do not use unencrypted connections or non-standard ports.
