# Nameservers

Nameservers control where your domain's DNS records are managed. You can use the default registrar nameservers or point your domain to custom nameservers such as Cloudflare, DigitalFyre's DNS Manager, or your own DNS infrastructure.

## Changing Nameservers

**1. Navigate to Your Domain**

Open your domain's management page and click **Nameservers** in the left sidebar.

**2. Select an Option**

Choose between **Use default nameservers** or **Use custom nameservers (enter below)** — custom supports up to 5 nameservers.

**3. Save**

Click **Change Nameservers**. Changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate, though most updates take effect within a few hours.

## Nameserver Options

**DigitalFyre DNS Manager**

Point your domain to DigitalFyre's AnyCAST DNS network:

```dns lines theme={"theme":{"light":"light-plus","dark":"ayu-dark"}}
ns1.digitalfyre.net
ns2.digitalfyre.net
ns3.digitalfyre.net
ns4.digitalfyre.net
```

Then add your domain and configure records in the [DNS Manager](https://docs.digitalfyre.com/client-portal/dns/dns-manager.md).

**Cloudflare**

Enter the nameservers Cloudflare assigns to your domain during onboarding. They typically look like:

```dns lines theme={"theme":{"light":"light-plus","dark":"ayu-dark"}}
<server_name>.ns.cloudflare.com
<server_name>.ns.cloudflare.com
```

**Default (Registrar)**

Select **Use default nameservers** to point back to the registrar's DNS. Required if you plan to use the [DNS Host Record Management](https://docs.digitalfyre.com/domains/addons/dns-host-record-management) or [Email Forwarding](https://docs.digitalfyre.com/domains/addons/email-forwarding.md) addons.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Changing nameservers does not affect your domain's registration, ownership, or renewal. It only changes where DNS queries for your domain are resolved.
